Pole dancing has become a new fitness craze across the globe. Although it stems from strip clubs, the connotation between stripping and pole dancing has now become obsolete. Made famous by Sheila Kelley on Oprah, Demi Moore and Kate Moss, pole dancing has become the new sport for women. Pole dancing introduces freedom, beauty and athleticism to the world, and to women especially.

Pole dancing is not just a dance. It is dance, gymnastics and yoga all rolled into one. Complex moves require women to lift their entire body weight and to look effortless. The movements work the body as a whole, not just one muscle at a time. This means a full body workout, second to none. Even professional dancers have been put through their paces on the pole. It is such a simple piece of equipment, but probably the most challenging one - there are no handles, no steps and it can be very slippery.

Every woman who has done regular classes has benefited in the following ways:

Physical benefits
- Tones and sculpts your body
- Muscle definition
- Increased stamina and strength
- Improved co-ordination
- Improved posture
- Rhythm

Mental benefits
- Excellent at building self-confidence
- Stress relief
- Social outlet
- Women only, friendly and supportive environment

Classes are designed for women, catering for all ages and fitness levels. At BodyMind Studios we offer three divisions: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. We offer certification to students who complete each level satisfactorily.

As the founder and leader in pole dancing classes in South Africa, we also offer qualified teacher training with a high standard of efficiency required to complete.

We also host the annual Miss Pole Dance SA TM competition, which is open to anyone who wishes to join, with Beginner, Intermediate and Professional divisions. The Title of Miss Pole Dance SA allows the winner to compete in International Pole Dancing events, as our standard is equal to the best internationally.

Although the themes and tricks are general and varied, the rules are quite strict. There is NO nudity or any stripping connotation allowed at our events.

We also offer portable poles, instructional DVDs and books in order to reach women in South Africa who dont have access to our classes.

Our aim is to expand awareness that pole dancing is not about nudity, but about freedom of expression in a responsible, sensual way, that is enhancing the beauty of women, not degrading it.
