Riana Marx, RAD Registered teacher writes: Mr. Ian Kaye, aged 77 died suddenly and unexpectedly after a hip replacement operation on 28th October 2007. He started dancing at the age of seven and performed in troop canteens during the war, in hospital wards, at Moth functions and at several charity events.
For three years he was South Africa's Senior Tap Dancing Champion. He was also awarded South African colours for Gymnastics and was nominated to represent South Africa at the 1050 Olympics but instead went to the United Kingdom to perform in stage shows including: "Oklahoma", "Annie Get Your Gun", "Summer Holiday", "Swan Lake"' and "Mary Poppins" with well known artists Sir Cliff Richards, Grace Kelly, Julie Andrews and June Alison. On retiring from stage productions he devoted his life to teaching the RAD method and ran a ballet school for 30 years in Louis Triegaardt, South Africa, where he passed his enthusiasm and love of dance onto many of his pupils.
He will be greatly missed by the Limpopo Province teachers, friends and students.
