WHAT ARE THEY? A progression of 5 levels of choreographed syllabi incorporating valuable elements of classical ballet technique. The syllabus progresses from Graduate 1, which is targeted towards pupils of RAD and Cecchetti Grade 5 ability, through to Graduate 5, which includes elements of Advanced classical ballet. The Graduate Awards are designed to enhance performance, technique and dance quality in pupils from 11 years of age and upwards, and the music used includes both contemporary and classical pieces appealing to pupils in these age-groups. Each Graduate level has a set “Barre” (up to 7 exercises), a Port de Bras, an Arm and Body line exercise and from Graduate 2 an Adage is included. Each Graduate level includes 5 amalgamations of allegro choreographed to explore a variety of styles and rhythms. A short Pointe-work section is included in graduates 4 and 5, however, this is not compulsory and may be demonstrated on demi-pointe. For the Teacher these Awards will be a valuable addition for the training of classical ballet students as they are ideal for use as a bridging and strengthening programme. Each syllabus is of a manageable length and is clearly explained in comprehensive notes, with an accompanying video/DVD and music CD.
